THE PROBLEM.
THE PROBLEM.
Kia has Down syndrome. Like many others, she never had clear, accessible guidance about relationships, consent, or making sexual choices. Sex and relationships education often isn’t designed for people like Kia — it’s confusing, not inclusive, or simply left out. Without support, Kia struggles to understand boundaries, communicate her needs, and feel confident in her choices. This lack of access leaves young people vulnerable, unsupported, and disconnected from their right to love and live with autonomy.

THE STORY.
THE STORY.
Kia recently started seeing someone special at college. One day, her partner suggested a kiss — but Kia didn’t feel ready, so she said no. Later, when he stopped replying, Kia felt confused and anxious. Her friends tried to help, but she didn’t know what to do. Then she opened Power to Me. She found a story that made her feel calm, confident, and heard. The next day, Kia talked things through — and felt proud of her choice.
