Project Lead

Mobile-first inventory management tool for a 67-year-old antique dealer, helping him gain control over his stock while meeting accessibility and usability needs.

PROBLEM.

Roy, an experienced antique dealer, was overwhelmed by the volume of unsorted inventory and lacked a digital system. Existing tools were too complex or inaccessible, leaving him and his small team without a practical way to track and manage items.

SOLUTION.

A simplified, mobile-first inventory management system focused on accessibility, quick item uploads, and team collaboration, without the complexity of a traditional online store.

INSIGHT 1.

Familiar UI patterns helped users quickly learn the system and reduced friction when adding new items.

INSIGHT 2.

A multi-step form made the upload process feel less overwhelming and reduced user drop-off.

STAKEHOLDER
NEEDS.

Roy needed an intuitive, mobile-first system to manage inventory independently. Ines needed a faster, clearer way to upload items with minimal guidance. Francesca needed real-time visibility without relying on manual updates from Roy.

PAIN POINTS.

Roy was overwhelmed by physical stock and limited by storage space and costs. Ines found current processes too slow and confusing to use. Francesca lacked remote visibility and control, creating bottlenecks.

CHALLENGES.

Testing was limited to the core stakeholder group, which constrained validation across broader user types and use cases. Project paused pre-development due to funding

TAKEAWAYS.

Deep user understanding shaped the right solution. AI tools sped up early design, but couldn’t replace real user feedback loops. Designing from an accessibility-first foundation created a scalable roadmap. If doing this project again I would plan a leaner MVP to reduce risk if funding is uncertain
